For the Office of President-Elect

The office of President-Elect is held for a one [1] year term, at the end of this term, the elected will assume the office of President. The President-Elect will: support the President in leading the Association towards its strategic direction and values; serve as a member of the Board of Directors; present a written proposal for the strategic plan and budget for term as President for approval by the Board; and perform the functions of the office of President in the absence or disability of the President.

Statement to voting members: I am honored to be considered as a candidate for President of NYSAND. As President I will ensure our outreach and activities are in alignment with our strategic plan and have the depth and vigor to support the goals established to meet the plan.


Personal Statement

  • What do you see as opportunities for the future of the food, nutrition, and dietetics profession?
    • With the internet as our most easily accessible means of information and the ever-increasing reliance on social media for knowledge, it is more important than ever for Registered Dietitians to increase their presence virtually. Only through member recruitment, retention and succession planning can we maintain our stronghold in the community as experts and continue to share scientifically sound food and nutrition information.

For the Office of Secretary-Treasurer

The position of Secretary-Treasurer will serve for two [2] years. The Secretary-Treasurer will be the chief financial officer of the Association. The Secretary-Treasurer will: serve as a member of the Board of Directors; issue the call for the annual business meeting; supervise the recording and distribution of minutes of all Association meetings, issue the Association's official ballots and notify candidates and membership of election results; formulate and audit the financial records by NYSAND Central Office; assist the President-Elect in formulating the annual budget for the following Association year; and report the financial status of the Association to the Board of Directors and the membership.

Statement to voting members: Maureen has over 30 years of experience in Nutrition; currently working FT at Loretto Health and Rehabilitiation. She has held positions with CNYDA, including President and Treasurer. Maureen was also nominated by CNYDA and awarded by AND as an RYDY. She has been State Meeting Chair and Nominating Committee Chair for NYSAND. She has provided many community presentations, topics include: "The Truth About Nutrition: Fads, Facts and Fakes," "Nutrition for Life," and "Careers in Nutrition."

  • What do you see as opportunities for the future of the food, nutrition, and dietetics profession?
    • The opportunities for the future of the food, nutrition, and dietetics professional continues to grow and evolve. We must seize the opportunity to collaborate and solve the greatest food and nutrition challenges by advocating for positive policies supporting nutrition security throughout society. We also have the opportunity to attract and mentor future nutrition and dietetic professionals. We shall continue to strive to expand our reach into areas to attract and mentor future nutrition and dietetics professionals. We shall continue to strive to expand our reach into areas to impact malnutrition and food security.

The position of Delegate is a three [3] year term and may be re-elected for one [1] additional term of office.  The Delegates will: represent and act on behalf of NYSAND at all meetings of the Academy's House of Delegates; communicate all business and current issues of the House of Delegates to and from the Board of Directors and the membership; communicate pertinent professional and practice issues to the District Association Presidents; and introduce member issues in the House of Delegates on behalf of the members of NYSAND.

Statement to voting members: Over the last year or so, I have served as the Region 3 Delegate. I have worked to make our voice heard in the House of Delegates and Academy. If given the opportunity to serve a second term, I will leverage my experience to influence health and nutrition policy as well as policies and positions put forth by the Academy. I will encourage others, especially new dietitians, to take an active role in the Academy.

Personal Statement

  • What do you see as opportunities for the future of the food, nutrition, and dietetics profession?
    • There is tremendous opportunity for the future of dietetics - especially as nutrition and food dominate conversations in national news and social media. I see our role expanding to new industries and areas of influence. However, with these opportunities, we owe it to ourselves and future practitioners to both continue to make our voice heard in these conversations, but also to protect our scope of practice.
